The Classroom of the Future (World) was built in 2009 to do education research on teaching and learning with the aid of I.T.
There are 5 round tables in the room for students to have discussion during lesson time effectively. Each seat possesses a drawer with a small netbook for individual learning task.
A big all-in-one PC is situated at each table to facilitate group learning tasks. It is equipped with a touch screen so that students can use a screen pen or finger to draw or highlight key points. All computer equipment is connected to high-speed Wi-Fi so that students can surf the Internet for information, and even share the findings that they have obtained.
Microsoft OneNote is used as one of the fundamental software to enable students to have discussions and summarize what they have learnt in a single place with the use of computer network. Their inputs are being synchronized automatically across the computer network. OneNote file is portable so that teachers and students can save the file and access it later. (i.e. Home)
We have recently replaced the netbook computers with Microsoft Surface Pro 2 to further enhance the interactivity and feasibility of teaching and learning. The tablet device is equipped with Wacom 1024 level pressure-sensitive pen which let users create work with the accuracy and precision of traditional brushes and pens. The experience is crucial for learning.
