Celebrating World Cities Day (An International Day of the United Nations)
Our school celebrated World Cities Day on Global Awareness Day. Students were asked to write down what they wanted the most in a city and how it could help with sustainable urban development. This activity encouraged students to think about how to balance growth in a city and the environmental impact brought by it.
Talk: Cultures of Car Racing – Perspectives from Professionals
Car racing (e.g. Grand Prix) is very popular in the world. Most of the students are not familiar with car racing, but they have a great interest in it.
Professional car racers delivered a talk on cultures of car racing –in the racing tracks and online. Our guest, Trefer Ting, shared his experiences in joining races in different countries, and how to communicate with the organisers and racers from all around the world effectively and efficiently.
Simulators were also set up to give students a taste of car racing as professionals. Racing cars were also exhibited in our school. Students found all these fascinating and they enjoyed the activities!
Basketball Banter
In order to encourage students to learn more about different countries and have fun during lunch, we organized Basketball Banter. Students had to shoot free throws, they then had to shout the name of a city of a chosen continent. If they got it correct, they scored!
Inter-class Kahoot Quiz
Each class sent three representatives to join the quiz. The questions were not only on English knowledge, but also on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, knowledge about different cultures, and questions on the United Nations. It is through the Inter-class Kahoot Quiz that students acquired knowledge on the aforementioned topics.
