Juvenile Horseshoe Crab Rearing Programme 2012-2013

To enhance students’ consciousness on environmental conservation, our School has joined the Juvenile Horseshoe Crab Rearing Programme launched by Hong Kong Ocean Park. 9 students from S.3 and S.4 have formed a core group, aiming to rear living fossil Chinese Horseshoe Crab (Tachypleus tridentatus) juveniles and arouse schoolmates’ awareness on horseshoe crab conservation. In February, dozens of horseshoe crab juveniles will be delivered from Ocean Park to our School for rearing until they are mature enough to live in the wild in July. Core members need to attend training sessions, including the 18th Ocean Park Conservation Day on 12 January (Sat), a briefing session, and a visit to the rearing laboratory in the City University of Hong Kong to acquire rearing skills.  We enthusiastically long to see the juveniles.  CFSS students should not hesitate to join our Horseshoe Crab Rearing Programme!
