Three of our S.1 students won the champion of the Roche Young Scientist Award (http://www.cfss.edu.hk/event20130504.html) and were granted the chance to visit Roche’s headquarters in Switzerland.
During the visit to Roche’s different departments, they understood better how the departments co-operated with each other and how the logistics work. The staffs not only introduced the history of Roche, but also explained the production procedures of drugs and diagnostic instruments in detail. This was an once-and-for-all chance for them to get into the headquarters and observed the daily operation of such an international company.
They were also invited to present their project in a school in Wettingen, where they have their own brewery and a church with at least 1600 years of history. They joined the students to carry out experiments in chemistry and biology lessons as well. The trip also included city tours in Basel and Lucerne.
