Interdisciplinary Field Trip to Zero Carbon Building (ZCB)

An interdisciplinary field trip to Zero Carbon Building (ZCB) was organized on 16 February 2019 in collaboration with Biology, Visual Art, Geology and Information & Communication Technology Department. To let students well-equipped with related skills for the trip, a pre-trip workshop was launched on 15 February 2019 as well.

On 16 February 2019, a total of more than 30 teachers & students bounded for Zero Carbon Building (ZCB) in Kowloon Bay. The field study took place in groups. Students utilized Apps to measure and analyze environmental parameters in the surrounding, including noise level, traffic flow, wind speed and building density, doing investigation on the topics of urban planning and development. A woodland cultivated with Hong Kong Native Plants at the periphery of ZCB was good for students to learn urban plant biodiversity through mobile learning. Students also made sketching on the native plants on their own. The field study was led by senior pioneers, supervised by teachers, so that their younger schoolmates collected data and analyzed findings on-site in groups.
