The Ocean Park STEAM Student Competition 2020 was organized by Ocean Park Academy Hong Kong. The competition aimed at encouraging students to apply the knowledge and skills they have acquired from STEAM-related disciplines in proposing their innovative animal conservation solutions.
Our students Ching Wai Lok (S.4A), Lam Wai Ming Bella (S.4A), Lau Wai Wai (S.4A) and Tsang Cheuk Lam (S.4A), under supervision of Biology Department Head Ms. Leung Yue Shan Jennifer, ICT Department Head Mr. Chung Lai Bon and Assistant Principal Mr. Lam Chi Wai Jimmy, designed environmental enrichment for little meerkats to boost their feeding abilities and social skills. We are also indebted to our alumnus Mr. Leung Wing Yin (S.6 graduate of 2012), who is also the education tutor of the Hong Kong Ocean Park, for his precious advice to our students on the enrichment designs. It is our great honor to grasp championship in this competition. Our students will earn an organizational collaboration with MAKERBAY in late July to polish the enrichment designs. We wish our enrichment designs can be incorporated as one of the enrichment items in the “Little Meerkat and Giant Tortoise Adventure” Edutaining Voyage of Ocean Park in the future, for facilitating conservation on the rare little meerkats.
