This project is organized by the Ocean Park Conservation Alliance. It is the first citizen scientist project investigating butterflies by secondary students in Hong Kong.
The project aims at arousing public awareness of butterfly biodiversity in Hong Kong by using simple and interesting ecological survey methods, so as to forster students’ interest in exploring the nature and their science citizenship; and to enhance students’ sense of belonging to the community through this project.
On 10th May, the Green Gurus recruited ten students to join butterfly survey at the Leaping Dragon Walk in Siu Sai Wan. They explore, observe and record the traces of butterflies and to understand the relationship between nectar plants and butterflies.
