To promote awareness on biodiversity and to incorporate art and culture, the Green Guru Team had held the Fish Printing (Gyotaku) Workshop on 10th October 2022.
20 students had learnt the history and cultural value of the traditional art of Gyotaku. Through the workshop, students had learnt the importance of sustainable fishery and various fishing method. Several species of fishes were provided to demonstrate the diversity of fish morphology. Students had made their fish printing on cloth and xuan paper as a bring-home art piece.
Gyotaku is a traditional art where incorporates both records of fishery catch and artisanship. The final piece is both valuable to scientific research on fish ecology as well as traditional arts.
