Honey Bee Conservation Signature Campaign

In order to raise awareness of biodiversity and species conservation, Green Gurus has organized a Honey Bee Conservation Signature Campaign. Honey bee has a paramount role in the ecosystem. Almost 75% of crops are pollinated by bees and other insects, making agriculture and food production possible. However, urbanization and pesticides are threatening their survival. CFSS joined Town Hall Meeting of Public Engagement on Control of Single-use Plastics organised by Council for Sustainable Development, HKSAR on 22/11

CFSS is one of the only two invited schools for the Town Hall Meeting. 7 Environmental Prefects, led by Deputy Principal Wong Siu Kwong Jacky and Teacher-in-charge of Sustainable Team Tong Man Chung Jacky, joined it. Among the 70 participants of different stakeholders, CFSS participants actively expressed suggestions to policies to cut the single-use plastic in Hong Kong in future. In order to help students relax after the test week, the Counselling Team and Green Gurus is organizing a Stress-relieving Shinrin Yoku Workshop, which allows students to bathe in the forest atmosphere, awaken their senses and support them in building a deep, healing connection with nature. High Level of Students’ Engagement in the Hong Kong Inter-School City Nature Challenge 2021

The ECF – Hong Kong Inter-School City Nature Challenge (HKISCNC) is a friendly fortnight-long competition in which Hong Kong schools find and log the most species in and around their campus, gathering more data on Hong Kong’s urban biodiversity. Prize Presentation for the 5th Hong Kong Specimen Drawing Competition

Twenty-one of our students have participated in the fifth Hong Kong Specimen Drawing Competition as presented by the Hong Kong Branch of the Royal Society of Biology in December 2020. Space Seed Sowing Ceremony by Green Gurus Team

The Chinese Foundation Secondary School had received space seeds from UNESCO(HK) and Hong Kong Institute of Education for Sustainable Development. The space seeds included tomatoes, mimosa and cowpeas in addition to normal seeds for control investigations. Our Green Gurus Team launched the Space Seed Sowing Ceremony on 27th September, 2021 (Mon), sharing our path of participating in the Space Seed Nursery Programme in the past and how CFSS has been fostering Biodiversity Conservation and Sustainable Development Education effectively through cultivating space plants.

CFSS students won the Merit Award in the STEM Education Challenge 2020-2021

The captioned STEM Education Challenge (Secondary Section) is divided into preliminary and final competitions. It aims to allow students to develop creativity, improve their hands-on creation and problem-solving skills as well as allowing them to learn teamwork spirit. Each team was provided with bamboo sticks, rubber bands, bean bags and other materials.
