CFSS Students Sharing the School-based Approaches in Biodiversity Education and Conservation Strategies in the Youth Biodiversity Forum

On 10th December 2022, 13 students took part in the online Youth Biodiversity Forum organized by The China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation. The students presented the school-based approaches in biodiversity education and conservation from three main perspectives: (1) Green Gurus on biodiversity education;(2) Popular STREAM and other Sustainable Development approaches;(3) Smart-related ICT initiatives on biodiversity conservation. Green Guru Fish Printing Workshop

To promote awareness on biodiversity and to incorporate art and culture, the Green Guru Team had held the Fish Printing (Gyotaku) Workshop on 10th October 2022. 20 students had learnt the history and cultural value of the traditional art of Gyotaku. Through the workshop, students had learnt the importance of sustainable fishery and various fishing method. Several species of fishes were provided to demonstrate the diversity of fish morphology. Thirty-six students of our school have participated in the sixth Hong Kong Specimen Drawing Competition as presented by the Hong Kong Branch of the Royal Society of Biology in December 2021. The Hong Kong Biology Literacy Award is organized by the Hong Kong Association for Science and Mathematics Education (HKASME), aiming to stimulate student’s active interest by expanding their exposure on scientific investigation.
