“No Straw Movement” Taking Action

Green Gurus of our school launched the “No Straw Movement” Signature Campaign on 25 Oct 2018 (Thu) on campus to raise students’ and teachers’ awareness of environmental conservation by stopping using plastic straws. In the signature campaign, up to 600 students and teachers promised to support “No Straw Movement” by giving signatures, joining hands to reduce waste at source. It was our school’s great honour to have invited Director Liang Chieh-te to pay a warm visit to CFSS on 9 November 2018 (Fri), showing his masterpiece “Fly, Kite, Fly” and sharing his precious experience in shooting the film. Director Liang is a Taiwan-based renowned eco-photographer and film director. His masterpieces had got enrolled in Golden Horse Film Festival several times and received numerous international awards. The 13th International Conference on Genomics (ICG-13)

Mr. Ho Tik Shun (Assistant Principal), Mr. Chung Cheuk Hung (Head of Science Department) and Dr. Chuck Chi Pang (Biology teacher) participated in the 13th International Conference on Genomics (ICG-13) in Shenzhen on 27 Oct 2018 (Sat), exchanging ideas with scientists and experts from different countries. Seminar covered a variety of topics including Genomics, Big Data and Artificial Intelligence (A.I.). CFSS Grabbing “Outstanding School Award” in “Connecting Students with Nature through STEAM” Programme launched by Ocean Park

Our school had joined the “Connecting Students with Nature through STEAM” programme” launched by Ocean Park. The event offered teachers a unique opportunity to use the Park’s rides, animal exhibits, and conservation resources to inspire in students a boundless imagination and to encourage them to explore the principles of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) through lively learning experiences. Ocean Park has invited 6 of our students to participate in“STEAM Career Peer Coaching Ambassadors” to facilitate their exposure to and understanding of STEAM-related careers.…

Our school was glad to collaborate with Grateful Green Group for organizing Biodiversity Workshops, 2 sessions in total, on the theme “Bird Conservation Express – Talking on Hong Kong’s Birds” in Biodiversity Gallery of the Hong Kong Science Museum in the afternoon of 13 Oct 2018. CFSS Honoured in Sustainable Development School Award Programme 2016-2018

CFSS was honoured again in the prize presentation ceremony of the Sustainable Development School Award Programme 2016-2018, held on 7 July 2018. The Programme was launched in Sept 2016, and themed on “sustainable consumption of biological resources”. Addressing the theme of the Programme, we engaged our neighbouring community under the theme of sustainability and hence obtained a “Sustainable Development Community Award”. CFSS Participated in Exhibit of Citizen Science Faire x MakerBay 2017 to Promote Citizen Science

Our school collaborated with MakerBay to participate in 4-day exhibit of Citizen Science Faire x MakerBay from 17 to 20 August, 2017. Our students unveiled the underlying reasons of mosquito breeding to the public by mosquito sample observation and making DIY mosquito trap. They encouraged the visitors to download “Mosquito Alert” app to record locations of mosquitoes and the breeding sites, promoting concepts of Citizen Science and Sustainable Development to the territory.
