CFSS has received 2017 Hong Kong Awards for Environmental Excellence – Schools (Secondary) – Silver Award

Our School emphasizes the engagement of all our stakeholders in environmental protection programmes. Starting from planting trees on the campus, the School integrates the concepts of sustainable development and biodiversity with the School’s facilities, policy, curriculum and cross-curricular activities. We also carries out scientific research work and cooperates with different organizations to educate the community on environmental issues, so as to enhance students’ environmental awareness through a holistic approach. Professor Kobori and Ms. Emu Miyashita from Tokyo City University Visiting CFSS

Professor Hiromi Kobori and her PhD student, Ms. Emu Miyashita, from Faculty of Environmental Studies of Tokyo City University paid a warm visit to our school on 14 September 2018. Professor Kobori is a world-renowned expert on environmental toxicology while Ms. Emu Miyashita is the Ambassador (Japan) of the CitizenScience.Asia Alliance. Our school was glad to collaborate with Grateful Green Group for organizing Biodiversity Workshops, 4 sessions in total, on the theme “Bird Conservation Express – Talking on Hong Kong’s Birds” in Biodiversity Gallery of the Hong Kong Science Museum in the afternoons of 21 and 25 July 2018. CFSS Honoured in Sustainable Development School Award Programme 2016-2018

CFSS was honoured again in the prize presentation ceremony of the Sustainable Development School Award Programme 2016-2018, held on 7 July 2018. The Programme was launched in Sept 2016, and themed on “sustainable consumption of biological resources”. The Annual Open Day 2018 was successfully held on 16 and 17 March 2018. The theme was CFSSŸ INNOVATIONŸSTREAM – STREAM Programme Accomplishments. CFSS Participated in Exhibit of Citizen Science Faire x MakerBay 2017 to Promote Citizen Science

Our school collaborated with MakerBay to participate in 4-day exhibit of Citizen Science Faire x MakerBay from 17 to 20 August, 2017. Our students unveiled the underlying reasons of mosquito breeding to the public by mosquito sample observation and making DIY mosquito trap. They encouraged the visitors to download “Mosquito Alert” app to record locations of mosquitoes and the breeding sites, promoting concepts of Citizen Science and Sustainable Development to the territory.

Our Students Grabbing Top Awards in Global Natural History Day 2017 – Global Finals (Chongqing)

Two students, Law Chung Hin Henry (S.5C) and Chan Chun Ming (S.5C), with their investigation project titled “Mind Our Birds, Save Our Earth”, obtained the Silver Award and the Kenneth E.
