Our Students Participated in the Colorimetry Workshop in HKBU

10 S.4 students participated a colorimetry workshop organized by HKBU in late June. By applying the principles of colorimetry, students can monitor the level of nitrogen dioxide in the air. After setting up a few passive air samplers in the laboratory and roadside, students went back and listened to the professors about the principles behind of the workshops. At last, students can find the level of the air pollutants by using the mobile application “ChemEye” to detect the colour intensity.

Amgen Biotech Experience (ABE) Programme

The Chinese University of Hong Kong and The Amgen Foundation collaborate to introduce “Amgen Biotechnology Experience (ABE) Programme” to Hong Kong schools, so that teachers can bring biotechnology experiments to real practice in the lessons. This enables students to unveil the details of daily applications of biotechnology nowadays. It has been the third year of our school to join the ABE Programme. CFSS Getting Fruitful Results in the Hong Kong Student Science Project Competition 2019

The Hong Kong Student Science Project Competition 2019 (jointly organized by the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups, the Education Bureau, the Hong Kong Science Museum and supported by the Innovation and Technology Commission and Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation) is a significant science competition for secondary schools. Following the outstanding performance in the previous years, our School succeeds to grab 14 prizes in the Hong Kong Youth Science & Technology Invention Competition 18-19. Interdisciplinary Field Trip to Zero Carbon Building (ZCB)

An interdisciplinary field trip to Zero Carbon Building (ZCB) was organized on 16 February 2019 in collaboration with Biology, Visual Art, Geology and Information & Communication Technology Department. To let students well-equipped with related skills for the trip, a pre-trip workshop was launched on 15 February 2019 as well. Popular STREAM Workshop – Identifying Succulents and Cacti

Green Gurus of our school launched a Popular STREAM activity titled “Identifying Succulents and Cacti” Workshop after school on 13 December 2018. Students took reference from the Popular Science books stationed in Reading Paradise of our Main Roof to study plant taxonomy. Then, students identified and labelled these succulents and cacti in Environmental Trail and Main Roof. It was our school’s great honour to have invited Director Liang Chieh-te to pay a warm visit to CFSS on 9 November 2018 (Fri), showing his masterpiece “Fly, Kite, Fly” and sharing his precious experience in shooting the film.
