Interdisciplinary Field Trip to Zero Carbon Building (ZCB)

An interdisciplinary field trip to Zero Carbon Building (ZCB) was organized on 16 February 2019 in collaboration with Biology, Visual Art, Geology and Information & Communication Technology Department. To let students well-equipped with related skills for the trip, a pre-trip workshop was launched on 15 February 2019 as well. Popular STREAM Workshop – Identifying Succulents and Cacti

Green Gurus of our school launched a Popular STREAM activity titled “Identifying Succulents and Cacti” Workshop after school on 13 December 2018. Students took reference from the Popular Science books stationed in Reading Paradise of our Main Roof to study plant taxonomy. Then, students identified and labelled these succulents and cacti in Environmental Trail and Main Roof. Our School Won the ‘Most Species’ and ‘Most Observers’ Awards in the Hong Kong Inter-School City Nature Challenge

The Hong Kong Inter-School City Nature Challenge (HKISCNC) is a friendly 4-day competition in which secondary schools find and log the most species in and around their campus, gathering more data on Hong Kong’s urban biodiversity. It was our school’s great honour to have invited Director Liang Chieh-te to pay a warm visit to CFSS on 9 November 2018 (Fri), showing his masterpiece “Fly, Kite, Fly” and sharing his precious experience in shooting the film. “No Straw Movement” Signature Campaign

Green Gurus of our school launched the “No Straw Movement” Signature Campaign on 25 Oct 2018 (Thu) on campus in the light of extensive invasion by microplastics to oceans causing death of millions of marine life by suffocation. Green Gurus would like to raise awareness of students and teachers on environmental conservation to stop using plastic straws. In the signature campaign, up to 600 students and teachers promised to support “No Straw Movement” by giving signatures, joining hands to reduce waste at source.

CFSS visiting 2018 InnoTech Expo

A group of CFSS teachers and students visited the “2018 InnoTech Expo” in late September. Under the theme “Driving Innovation, from the Past to the Future”, three thematic exhibitions (Engineering, Agriculture and Healthcare) showcased the ancient Chinese inventions as well as the cutting-edge technology in the respective fields. With this precious opportunity, we believed that students have not only been enlightened by the achievement made in the past but also inspired with the latest technological development.

Professor Kobori and Ms. Emu Miyashita from Tokyo City University Visiting CFSS

Professor Hiromi Kobori and her PhD student, Ms. Emu Miyashita, from Faculty of Environmental Studies of Tokyo City University paid a warm visit to our school on 14 September 2018. Professor Kobori is a world-renowned expert on environmental toxicology while Ms. Emu Miyashita is the Ambassador (Japan) of the CitizenScience.Asia Alliance. Beijing-HK Youth Science and Innovation Elite Exchange Programme 2018 was successfully launched in The Chinese Foundation Secondary School from 14 to 18 July 2018. 70 elite students from Beijing and Hong Kong went through the 5 days of learning and visits. 11 CFSS students participated in this Programme, which was organized by Beijing NGO Network for International Exchanges and Hong Kong Beijing Association Limited.
