Biology field trip to Mai Po

To consolidate student’s subject knowledge and equip them with more in-field exposure, S.5 and S.4 Biology students had joint the field trip at Mai Po Nature Reserve on 3rd April 2023, organized by the World Wide Fund (Hong Kong). 35 Students studying Biology had visited the vast habitats in Mai Po, including Gei Wai, mangroves, mudflats etc. In the guided tour, students were taught to use binoculars to observe and identify different bird species in birdwatching houses. Kickstarting Whole-school Approach in STREAM Education – Visit and Seminar Delivered by Prof. Lam Hon Ming

With an attempt to provide STREAM education to each and every student in CFSS, our school has been adopting whole-school approach in STREAM Education. Demonstration Lessons on “Student-Centred Learning”

Our school collaborated with Education University of Hong Kong to launch two demonstration lessons on “Student-Centred Learning” on 13 June 2022 (Monday). The theme for the S.3 Science lesson was “Seed Dispersal Mechanisms” while the theme for the S.5 Biology lesson was “Evolution: Darwinism & Lamarckism”.Teachers from different schools conducted peer lesson preparation to plan for their learning activities of the lessons, aiming at fostering students’ self-directed learning and extended learning through group learning and collaboration. Learning Activity in Ocean Park

To enrich students’ learning experience and to build up the harmonious relationships among students and teachers, S1 to S4 students went to Ocean Park on 22nd July 2021. S1 and S2 students participated in animal programme, S3 students participated in STREAM programme, and S4 students participated in career programme. Through the programmes, students understand how Ocean Park works in preserving the environment, promoting the STREAM, and career prospects. Although it was very hot that day, the event bought beautiful memory to the students and teachers.

Interdisciplinary Field Trip to Zero Carbon Building (ZCB)

An interdisciplinary field trip to Zero Carbon Building (ZCB) was organized on 16 February 2019 in collaboration with Biology, Visual Art, Geology and Information & Communication Technology Department. To let students well-equipped with related skills for the trip, a pre-trip workshop was launched on 15 February 2019 as well. Popular STREAM Workshop – Identifying Succulents and Cacti

Green Gurus of our school launched a Popular STREAM activity titled “Identifying Succulents and Cacti” Workshop after school on 13 December 2018. Students took reference from the Popular Science books stationed in Reading Paradise of our Main Roof to study plant taxonomy. Then, students identified and labelled these succulents and cacti in Environmental Trail and Main Roof.
