CFSS students won the Merit Award in the STEM Education Challenge 2020-2021

The captioned STEM Education Challenge (Secondary Section) is divided into preliminary and final competitions. It aims to allow students to develop creativity, improve their hands-on creation and problem-solving skills as well as allowing them to learn teamwork spirit. Each team was provided with bamboo sticks, rubber bands, bean bags and other materials. CFSS Student, Wong Yin Hom, Engaging in A Real-time Earth-space Conversation with The Taikonauts on Tianhe Space Station

Our school took part in the “In the Call of the Times: Looking Upward to Stars and Talking with Tiangong” event on September 3. Both our teachers and students had a glimpse of the environment inside and outside the Tianhe Space Station. We also learnt how the Taikonauts perform actions which are easy in our daily routine, yet very difficult under low gravity conditions, including drinking water, preparing food and handling wastes. CFSS Students Winning Second Runner-up in The Dream District VR Competition

On 24 August 2021, six S.3 students took part in the “Dream District” VR Competition organized by St. Paul’s Secondary School, and won the Second Runner-up. The participating students have enriched their knowledge and expertise in VR development during the preparation process. They have also broadened their horizons for the possibility of incorporating VR in multiple disciplines, by observing the presentations from the competing teams and listening to the feedback from the judges.

CFSS Getting Fruitful Results in the Hong Kong Student Science Project Competition 2021

The Hong Kong Student Science Project Competition 2021 (jointly organized by the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups, the Education Bureau, the Hong Kong Science Museum and supported by the Innovation and Technology Commission and Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation) is a significant science competition for secondary schools. Learning Activity in Ocean Park

To enrich students’ learning experience and to build up the harmonious relationships among students and teachers, S1 to S4 students went to Ocean Park on 22nd July 2021. S1 and S2 students participated in animal programme, S3 students participated in STREAM programme, and S4 students participated in career programme. Through the programmes, students understand how Ocean Park works in preserving the environment, promoting the STREAM, and career prospects. Although it was very hot that day, the event bought beautiful memory to the students and teachers.

Nanopore DNA Sequencing Workshop

Nanopore sequencing is a technology using flow cells which contain an array of tiny holes — nanopores — embedded in an electro-resistant membrane to determine the order of nucleotides in DNA. Each nanopore corresponds to its own electrode connected to a channel and sensor chip, which measures the electric current that flows through the nanopore.
