Exploring Evolutionary History of Our Earth

With resource exploitation, habitat destruction and devastating pollution problems, some scientists predict that humans are driving themselves towards the Sixth Mass Extinction. Global warming, drastic climate change, coral bleaching and so on hoist alarming signals of the Globe that our next generations will suffer most. We aim to educate our students to explore biodiversity in boundless classrooms with global perspectives on environmental issues, such that they are conscious of and able to taking further steps to alleviate the aggravating situations in the future.

CFSS is a well-established nursery ground of plant biodiversity, housing a collection of 1100 species of plants in the campus. We have stationed 200+ species of seed specimens and 200+ specimens of different plant parts in CFSS Seed Bank and Herbarium & Seedling Nursery Center. Related 200+ fossil specimens can also be found in our school’s Geology and Climate Change Resource Center (GCCRC). We provide students precious chance to explore evolutionary history of our earth at ease on campus.
