Science Carnival 科學嘉年華

Date:  2nd December, 2017
Time:  9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

The Science Carnival is the last of three accredited activities of CFSS in celebrating the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the HKSAR. It was a great success on 2 Dec 2017. We have totally set up 8 sessions and 14 practical workshops in total to cover a variety of themes, namely Urban Biodiversity, Health Education, Earth Science, Astronomy, Programmable Drones, etc. Participants could explore plant biodiversity by joining the Mobile Learning Workshop in Environmental Trail while they could program to navigate their drones in School Hall. They could examine specimens of Asian Tiger Mosquitoes using stereomicroscopes and designed their own wind direction metres in the covered playground. They could experience a lot of fun in series of experiments in Science Laboratories while participate in demonstration of Virtual Reality for studying chemical bonding and celestial bodies in Geology & Climate Change Resource Centre and Astronomy Hall respectively. A Popular Science Book Fair was held to promote extensive reading as well. Apart from workshops and book fair, Dr. Wong Kam Yiu Jimmy, Centre Director of New Generation Cultural Association Science Invention Centre was cordially invited to be our guest speaker for the talk titled “STEM Education: Where and How?”. Visitors have learnt and experienced a lot everywhere in our campus.
