Our S3 students have joined the online United Nations Introductory Course. The United Nations is an international organization founded in 1945. It is currently composed of 193 member states and has evolved over the years to keep pace with a rapidly changing world. Through the course, our students have understood more about the functions and structure of the United Nations.
The five major missions of the United Nations are delivery humanitarian aid, promoting sustainable development, protecting human rights, maintaining international peace and security, upholding international law. Our students conducted a poll to find the most important UN mission on 22 Mar and 23 Mar 2021. ‘Promoting sustainable development’ got the highest number of votes in the activity. We hope that all countries can join hands to build a better World.
To echo with the 8th Peacemakers’ Cultural Celebration by UNESCO Hong Kong Association Global Peace Centre, our students wrote couplets to encourage peace messages before the Lunar New Year.
To celebrate the CFSS 20th anniversary, a series of social service projects have been conducted in this year. The 20th service project was a whole-school community service. The Student Council collected gifts (mostly daily necessities and epidemic prevention materials) from students and staff, and presented the gifts to the ethnic minorities and refugees through the NGOs. We hope to share the love with others in this period of pandemic outbreak.
On 30th September 2020, our students joined the 3-min Draw for Peace 2020: 24 Time Zone Challenge which was organized by UNESCO HK Global Peace Centre. After the activities, students have understood the meaning of Peace Sign and Victory (V) Peace Sign. We hope that the message of PEACE can be promoted to all people in the world.
Our school participated in Jockey Club Fair Trade School Award Scheme 2019 – 2021 organized by Fair Trade Hong Kong. This year, our Global Awareness Day was held on 17th December 2019. the theme for global awareness day is about society. We promoted sustainable development goals on the day. In the morning, the student ambassadors greeted the students by asking what they could do for the sustainable development goals. During morning assemblies, students shared sustainable development goals based on their experience in education tours. Our S1 and S2 students attend a talk on 11th December 2019. The talk was conducted by Mr. Kawasaki Takashi. He shared with the students how the cattle raising is done in Africa.
On 10th December 2019, about 30 students joined the cooking class to learn how to make South Asian’s milk tea, naan with curry. Students enjoyed the naan with delicious curry. The milk tea was quite different from what they drink in Hong Kong restaurants. It was pink in colour and with salty taste.
In order to arouse students’ attention on global poverty issue, our school organized a signature campaign on 17th October, the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty. Through the board sharing and workshop, students understood the poverty situations in developing countries.
