23 students joined the Model United Nations in this academic year. They represented different countries and discussed the controversial issues. 11 students joined Interschool Model United Nation organized by HKISMUN between 29th June and 1st July 2019. 5A Nicole Wong was awarded the best delegate in the conference. 12 students joined Hong Kong Secondary School Model United Nations Conference organized by HKMUNC between 1st July and 3rd July 2019.
It is our 3rd year to hold global awareness workshop for S1 to S3 students during post-exam period. This year, our theme is Respecting Ethnic Minorities. To understand the current situations of ethnic minorities in Hong Kong, students watched several video, then played Kahoot, designed T-shirts and prepared speech to learn more about the cultures of ethnic minorities.
30 students went to Japan to study technology, waste treatment and sustainable development in July 2019. 20th November 2018 is the 25th anniversary of “Convention on The Rights of The Child”. Signature campaign and sharing were made to arouse students’ awareness on children’s’ rights, including right to survival, right to development, right to protection and right to participation.
On Cultural Day on 2nd April 2019, some students participated in field studies on ethnic minorities in Tsim Sha Tsui and some students attended talks to know more about interesting food and festivals of ethnic minorities in Hong Kong.
Our school joined the UNESCO Peacemakers’ Cultural Celebration at the Hong Kong Science Park on 23rd February 2019. The programme provided a platform for community-based activities to encourage inter-cultural dialogues. Our counter promoted the culture of Nepal on that day.
On Learning Activities Days, some S5 students were arranged to visit the ethnic minorities in Yuen Long and Cheung Sha Wan. Our students understood more about their cultures and the environments around their homes.
There are over 50 000 Hong Kong Nepalese citizens. One of the ways to understand their cultures is to taste their food. A group of students went to Jordon to try the Nepali food on 31st January 2019. They found that some food were new to them.
Global Awareness to arouse students’ awareness on cultures were held on 20th and 21st November. Games, exchanging with foreign people, dance performance, exhibition were organized during the two days. 5A Lau Tak Hei, Ng Tsz Nok and Wong Oi Shuen participated in the activity, and they were awarded Second Class Honour.
