Taiwan Education Tour

In July 2024, our Astronomy Club organized an overseas stargazing activity for students at the light-pollution-free Qingjing Farm, allowing them to appreciate the beauty of the night sky and enhance their knowledge of astronomy through workshops and tours. During the trip, students visited Qingjing Stargazing Park for stargazing activities and explored various astronomical facilities and workshops. Malaysia Education Tour

To deepen students’ understanding of sustainable development, the school organized an ecological and cultural education tour to Malaysia in July 2024. During the trip, students embarked on a jungle walk in Taman Negara National Park, where they observed the diverse flora and fauna of the rainforest. They explored the mangrove forest of Kuala Selangor, witnessed the enchanting fireflies, visited the Elephant Sanctuary, and toured the Kuala Lumpur Forest Ecological Park, as well as a zoo and a rice farm. Switzerland Education Tour

To deepen students’ understanding of global warming, we were honoured to have Mr. Cheung Wai Yin, a polar exploration expert, lead an expedition to the glaciers of Switzerland in July 2024. The journey began at the Institute of Earth Surface Dynamics at the University of Lausanne, where students engaged in glacier research. They then explored the Aletsch Glacier area and Saas Fee, participating in glacier studies and outdoor lectures. Iceland Education Tour

In March 2023, our school welcomed a visit from an Icelandic student. In October 2023, our three students and two teachers visited Iceland in return. During the tour, students had the chance to explore Iceland’s history and culture, learn about the use of geothermal energy, and observe the country’s economic and technological advancements. They also engaged with local Icelandic students. Through such overseas educational programs, we aim to nurture young individuals with a global and multicultural perspective.

Video Conference with our sister school

To continue with the pen friend programme in academic year 2021-2022, we conducted video conference with Shanghai Nanyang High School, our sister school, on 8th September 2021. Students shared their joy in the pen friend programme, and discussed their happiness about Olympics Games 2020. They also talked about their future careers and dreams. Global Awareness Workshops during Post-exam periods

Students participated in various workshops to learn more about global issues through experience on 2nd July 2021. S1 students attended Minority Festival Workshop from Indian coaches. Students learnt drawing Diwali paintings and traditional dance. S2 students took part in henna workshops. Students enjoyed drawing various pictures with the special ink. S3 students participated in simulation workshops organized by Oxfam Hong Kong. In the workshops, students tried to solve some global problems by thinking creatively and learnt to appreciate other cultures.

Gift Donations to Ethnic Minorities and Refugees through NGOs

To celebrate the CFSS 20th anniversary, a series of social service projects have been conducted in this year. The 20th service project was a whole-school community service. The Student Council collected gifts (mostly daily necessities and epidemic prevention materials) from students and staff, and presented the gifts to the ethnic minorities and refugees through the NGOs. We hope to share the love with others in this period of pandemic outbreak.

Global Awareness Day

This year, our Global Awareness Day was held on 17th December 2019. the theme for global awareness day is about society. We promoted sustainable development goals on the day. In the morning, the student ambassadors greeted the students by asking what they could do for the sustainable development goals. During morning assemblies, students shared sustainable development goals based on their experience in education tours. Model United Nations Conferences

23 students joined the Model United Nations in this academic year. They represented different countries and discussed the controversial issues. 11 students joined Interschool Model United Nation organized by HKISMUN between 29th June and 1st July 2019. 5A Nicole Wong was awarded the best delegate in the conference. 12 students joined Hong Kong Secondary School Model United Nations Conference organized by HKMUNC between 1st July and 3rd July 2019.
