

An Icelandic Student Conducts Exchange in CFSS
An Icelandic student conducted a one-week exchange programme in CFSS in early March. She had lessons with our 1E students. Besides academic exchange, our students also interacted with the Icelandic student happily through learning each other’s languages and teaching her to play badminton.

Visit by Ambassador Mbelwa Kairuki from Tanzania
Ambassador Mbelwa Kairuki from Embassy of the United Republic of Tanzania in Beijing visited our school and gave a talk for S.2 students on 2nd February, 2023. He shared with us the development of Tanzania, as well as the beautiful landscape of Tanzania, which enhanced our students’ global outlook in African countries. Our students also asked him questions on the balance between development and environmental protection.

Sharing by Mr. Thorir Ibsen from Iceland
On 15th December, 2022, Mr. Thorir Ibsen, Ambassador of Iceland to the People’s Republic of China visited our school and conducted sharing session with students who have been Iceland for an exchange tour in 2018. Mr. Ibsen and our students conducted interactive conversation on their experience on Iceland. Students were impressed by Ambassador’s sharing on the history of skyr, a famous Icelandic dessert.

Our students get good results in 2021 “My Interfaces with the Belt and Road Initiative” Integrated Abilities Competition
The competition of this year was held on 5th June, and the questions are related to the following four areas, including “the Belt and Road Initiative,” “the Greater Bay Area,” “Green Society” and “Innovative Technology.” A series of seminars were delivered by several local leaders from academia and economic-political sphere, such as Professor Chan Man Hung Thomas and Professor Terence T.L. Talk by Mr. Ricky Suhendar and Ms. Elfani Prassanti from Indonesia
Mr. Ricky Suhendar and Ms. Elfani Prassanti, representing the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia, visited our school and gave an informative talk to our S.1 students on Indonesia culture and geography. Ms. Elfani Prassanti taught our students how to speak some common Indonesian words. The talk ended with an interactive Q&A Session. Through the talk, even we could not go to Indonesia during pandemics, our students knew more about our neighboring country through the guest speakers’ sharing.

Talk by Mr. Lee Miguel Chang from Panama
Mr. Miguel Lee Chang was one of the advisors in our School International Mentorship Programme. Mr. Chang used his first-hand experience in farming industry in Panama to share with our S.2 students on the challenges of farmers and the problems of food shortage. Students were inspired by his message on ‘no food waste’ in the talk.

Online Tours
Due to the serious global pandemic outbreak, students cannot go abroad to widen the global horizon. However, due to the advanced technology nowadays, they can also explore the situations in places outside Hong Kong and exchange with local people through the online tours. On 1st June, 2022, our students joined online tours to China and Indonesia, and shared their travelling experience with teachers and classmates.

Face-changing Art Performance
Secondary 1 students watched Face-changing Art Performance on Cultural Day. It is through participating in the activity that students have learnt more about Chinese culture and widened their horizons. Our student asked the performer some questions about face-changing art. She asked the performer the difficulties she faced when learning face-changing, and if the parents of the performer supported her decision of being a face-changing art performer. Students experienced face-changing art in the session, and they found it very interesting.

International Human Solidarity Day Programme
Our school joined International Human Solidarity Day Progarmme organized by UNESCO. We promoted human solidarity through various activities, including spaceship creation workshop and signature campaign. Students read aloud the solidarity declaration to celebrate the International Human Solidarity Day.

Video Conference with our sister school
To continue with the pen friend programme in academic year 2021-2022, we conducted video conference with Shanghai Nanyang High School, our sister school, on 8th September 2021. Students shared their joy in the pen friend programme, and discussed their happiness about Olympics Games 2020. They also talked about their future careers and dreams. The conference was full of laughter.
