To continue with the pen friend programme in academic year 2021-2022, we conducted video conference with Shanghai Nanyang High School, our sister school, on 8th September 2021. Students shared their joy in the pen friend programme, and discussed their happiness about Olympics Games 2020. They also talked about their future careers and dreams. The conference was full of laughter.
On 11th July 2018, our students had a joint performance with New Zealand Secondary Students’ Choir. The performance started with the shows of Chinese musical instruments by our students, our School Orchestra and School Choir performance, followed by the performance by New Zealand Secondary Students’ Choir. The show ended with a joint performance by the two choirs. The students from the two schools chatted cheerfully and had dinner together after the show.
The Annual Concert this year was held on 7th July 2018. The Consul-General of Colombia in Hong Kong, Mr. Yobani Veleasquez Quintero, led a team to join start off the show. They did not only introduce the Colombian music to our students and parents, but also demonstrated Colombian songs and dance to us. They enriched the atmosphere of our Annual Concert.
During 17th April 2017 and 21st April 2017, 30 students and 5 teachers went to Shanghai to study the culture and education. In the trip, they visited Shanghai Nanyang High School (http://www.cfss.edu.hk/event20170417.html) to study how Shanghai Nanyang High School is promoting language, culture and sports. They visited Shanghai Museum, former residence of Ba Jin, Tianzi Fang to study how historical and cultural conservation has been done in Shanghai. Our students had video conferences with students from Shanghai Nanyang High School on 22 March 2017 and 7 April 2017. During the conferences, the students shared among themselves the cultures of Hong Kong and Shanghai, and lanuguage education in two cities.
Eight S5 students participated in Hong Kong Model United Nations between 19th and 21st March 2017. During the conference, students acted as representatives of different countries and discussed global issues.
17 professors and teachers visited our school on 9 March 2017. In order to understand more how secondary schools in Hong Kong work, they did not only visit our school, but also had good chats with our students. Our students enjoyed talking with them and knew more about the culture and education in Japan.
25 teachers from Kazakhstan visited our school on 20 December 2016. The focus of their visit is science education. Through discussion and lesson observation, their teachers have understood more on how we conduct science lessons using English as a medium of instruction. They also toured around the campus to understand how science education can be carried out outside classroom.
Mr. Wong Man Kong, a successful entrepreneur, visited our school on 20 December 2016 to shared his experience with our teachers and students on the development of silk road in the past 20 years. He shared with us the importance of ‘belt and road initiative’ and how the initiative can create new opportunities to the next generations.
Our students had a chance to exchange ideas with their counterparts from Riverdale Country School in a 3-day programme between 17th and 19th Jun 2016. Students from both schools participated in activities in our school, went hiking and visited the Peak together. Through this programme, the appreciation of each other’s cultures has enhanced much.
