Students from North Vista Secondary School of Singapore visited our school on 7th & 8th November 2017. Their students had lessons and lunch with our students. Through the exchange, students of both schools gain a better understanding of each other’s cultures.
Dr. Fred Dubee widened our horizon by demonstrating how World Café was run on 21st November 2017. Our students and teachers enjoyed the sharing session of the World Café. The discussion was very fruitful.
Mr. Takashi Kawasaki paid a visit to our school and gave a talk titled “Cow Raising in Ningxia & Africa” to our S1 and S2 students on 19th October 2017. He shared a lot of photos about the farms in Ningxia and Africa, as well as the people living there. Mr. Richard Bahar, a Sri Lankan entrepreneur, shared with our students the situation of Sri Lanka on 16th Oct 2017. He pointed out that belt and road initiative was a great chance for us. The students should equip themselves with soft skills, such as language, cultural awareness and communication skills. He encouraged our students to conduct more cultural exchanges, and learn foreign languages.
On 4th October 2017, 29 students and teachers went to CUHK to participate in LUI Che Woo Prize – Prize for World Civilisation Laureate Public Lecture. The title of the talk was “Steadfast Confidence, Active Promotion of Global Climate Governance”. In the talk, the speaker Mr. Xie Zhenhua, Special Representative for Climate Change of China, talked about how countries are working together on policies to tackle the climate change, especially on Paris Agreement. It widened students’ global horizon in global climate governance.
Mr. Nicholas Rosellini, UN resident coordinator in China, visited our school and shared with our teachers on the 17 sustainable development goals on 28th September 2017. He answered a lot of our questions and gave insight on how we can take a balance in order to strive for sustainable development. Through the conversations with him, the teachers could understand more on how different countries are working towards sustainable development goals.
Professor Marsall W Meyer from the University of Pennsylvania paid a visit to our School on 25th September 2017. He gave a talk titled “Learning from China: learning a global mindset” to our S3 and S5 students. Prof. Meyer shared his experience in China since 1992. The speedy development of China impresses him a lot. Wangfujing Pedestrain Street was occupied by thousands of bicycles in 1992 and vehicles in 1993, and the number of bicycles has increased again in 2017. He encouraged our students to travel…
Dr Michael Spence, Vice-Chancellor and Principal of The University of Sydney, visited our school on 7th September 2017. He shared with our S.4 and S.5 students the benefits of global education. He advised them to prepare for global perspectives and cross-disciplinary learning during their studies.
A two-day workshop was held on during 6 – 7 July 2017 for our S1 to S3 students. The topic was sustainable development goals. They acted as the global leaders and persuaded others to care for their sustainable development goals. The students participated actively in the activities and understood more on the global needs.
