The “Eastern District Drone Promotion Programme” jointly launched by The Eastern District Office and Eastern District School Liaison Committee strives to enable primary and secondary students to master the skills of drones flying and cultivate problem-solving capabilities during the flight. The scheme will help students connect themselves to manipulating higher-level drones, drone programming, and taking part in aerospace-related industries in the future, meanwhile, to confront the challenges in the robotic future.

The programme has been launched since September last year, and students used their after-school time to learn how to manipulate First Person View Drones (FPV Drones) and pass through obstacles by wearing goggles. Through repeated practice, students must strike a perfect balance between four different aspects to complete the task, namely stability, speed, zoom-out perspective and obstacle avoidance.

After completing the training, the students will participate in the drone racing competitions. Competitors are required to control the drones to fly cross all obstacles on the track at the shortest time and the fastest speed. There are two rounds of competition. The first round of competition was the “Eastern District x Tung Wah Drone Racing League” held on March 11, 2023. Our students won second place in the team race.

The second round of competition was the ” Eastern District FPV Drone Racing League 2023″ held on August 19, 2023. Our students achieved fruitful results in this competition. For individual race, three CFSS students successfully entered the semi-finals after the practice race, preliminary race and promotion race. In the end, Pong Yat Long Cyrus from Class 4A won the third place in the individual race category. In team race, our school won the championship. We hereby congratulate all participating students for their concerted endeavor in preparing for the events.
