Mobile Learning – iClass

iClass is an innovative teaching and learning system which can effectively deliver teaching materials and gather learning data.  This system is developed and maintained by the University of Hong Kong.  We have been using this system to faciliate students in doing learning tasks. It is one of the best tools that we have chosen to use for our school-based mobile learning project.

Blade Server Farm

We upgraded to blade server farm along with enterprise graded Storage Area Network (SAN) to support our education needs in using information technology to assist teaching and learning. This upgrade offers us a new era in green computing by virtualization technology. The unified server farm uses an intelligent controller to monitor and regulate the power consumption and heat. Extensive Project on Wi-Fi Coverage

We have been working to extend the Wi-Fi coverage on campus since 2012. To lubricate the Mobile Learning and e-learning projects, we selected various venues to install enterprise standard Wi-Fi Access Points (APs) in order to allow forty simultaneous connections to receive high quality video streaming which is necessary for Mobile Learning. The latest model of Wi-Fi Access Points which supports 801.11ac specification has been installed in 10 classrooms for pilot e-book project since 2012.

Mobile Learning in CFSS

Phase 4 (2012-present) We are implementing Bring Your Own Device ( BYOD) project on campus. Students will be divided into several small groups and learn with their own mobile devices under supervision.   This promotes effectively the culture of self-directed learning.
