An interdisciplinary field trip to Zero Carbon Building (ZCB) was organized on 16 February 2019 in collaboration with Biology, Visual Art, Geology and Information & Communication Technology Department. Visit to the Jockey Club Museum of Climate Change in CUHK

A group of CFSS teachers and students visited the Jockey Club Museum of Climate Change in CUHK on 25 October 2018. Dr. Rebecca Lee Lok Sze and Professor Li Yuan-sheng delivered a talk titled “Polar Ice Melting and Global Climate Change”. Dr. Lee also shared her experience on the trips to the two Poles and Mount Everest. Students enjoyed her fruitful sharing much and asked a lot of follow-up questions in the seminar.

Talk by Prof. Liang Digang, an Expert in Oil Exploration and Geology

Prof. Liang Digang, a famous expert in oil exploration and geology, visited our School and gave a talk to all S.1, S.2 and S.5 students on 17th May 2017 (Wednesday). Prof. Liang shared four critical decisions he has made throughout his 65-year experience in the mainland. He explained how perseverance and enthusiasm are indispensable to success. Teachers and students were all impressed by the meaningful and inspiring story of Prof. Liang.

Field Trip to NE Hong Kong Geopark

A boat trip to the NE geosites of Hong Kong Geopark was organised on 6th May 2017. Students were able to enjoy the remarkable coastal landforms at Tolo Channel. They also learnt about the cultural environmental through orienteering activities. Students were able to learn more about Hong Kong Geopark, especially the Ap Chau and Kat O areas.

Visit to “T-Rex revealed” Exhibition

Our school led our students to visit the special exhibition“T-Rex Revealed” Exhibition organized by the Hong Kong Science Museum pn 18th February 2017. Making use of Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) technologies, the exhibition created an innovative and adventurous experience, taking students into the world of the dinosaurs. Students were able to learn more about dinosaurs and the evolution of organisms. Exchange Programme with Japanese High-school Students

A group of Japanese high-school students visited Hong Kong in August, 2016. Students from our school were invited to act as the host and shared their knowledge about Hong Kong geology with those Japanese students. Apart from the visit to Sai Kung geosite, students from Hong Kong and Japan also shared about the teen culture in Hong Kong. Rock Cuisine Workshops

What are rock strata, sedimentation and sedimentary rock? Junior students may find these concepts difficult. A series of rock cuisine workshop was organized during the post-exam period in July 2016. Through making a unique-styled Macau Pudding, students learnt the processes of sedimentary rock formation such as erosion, deposition and lithification. Participants were impressed by the workshop.
