化學組成, 鍵及結構Chemical composition, bonding and structure Uvarovite is a calcium chromium silicate with the chemical formula Ca3Cr2Si3O12. (Jay D. Bass, 2012) The atomic structure of uvarovite is based on a cubic structure, commonly as euhedral crystals, dodecahedra or trapezohedra. (Novak, G.A.; G.V Gibbs, 1971; Anastasia Chopelas, 2005)
形成Formation Uvarovite was formed from contact metamorphic processes or hydrothermal processes. It has an optimum formation temperature of 1370 ± 10℃ under high pressure. (T. ISAACS, 1965)
特性Properties Uvarovite is the only consistently green garnet species which occurs as well-formed fine-sized crystals. It is having a green color ranging from emerald-green to green-black, with a hardness of 6.5-7.5 in the Mohs scale. It is brittle and its fracture is uneven and conchoidal. (Donna L. Whitney; Margaret Broz; Robert F. Cook, 2007)
