Bytownite basalt is another variation of the common Basalt rock. Basalt tends to to be a dark, fine, crystalline igneous rock and has a number of different variations. These particular samples of basalt contain solidified plagioclase feldspar solution which is often a pale cream colour known as bytownite. These bytownite crystals can easily be seen in the samples even with the naked eye. The specimens come from Cumbria, UK and are supplied in a white card tray with a label.
