It formed by the reconstitution of fine-grained, parent sedimentary rocks,such as mudstones or shales.

特性:

千枚岩具有比石板更大的晶體。令它有更大程度的光線反射或光澤。板岩通常無光澤且不反光。光澤用於區分板岩與千枚岩。

Properties:

Phyllite has larger crystals than slate. This gives it a greater degree of light reflection or sheen. Slate is usually dull and non reflective.The sheen is used to distinguish phyllite from slate.

用途:

Application:

Phyllite has found many uses in the residential construction industry. Because of its qualities, they can be worked in different ways to meet the demands and trends of most modern construction developments. The texture and appearance makes it suitable for modern design for example floor tile in the interior of hotel lobbies, schools, museums etc.

 

分佈:

千枚岩通常沿著區域性的變質帶的邊界形成,也是海洋沉積岩被困在大陸板塊的摩擦之間。 千枚岩也可以在海底沉積盆地中發現。

 

Distribution:

Phyllites often form along the boundaries of regional metamorphic belts where marine sedimentary rocks have been trapped in between the frictional movement of continental plates. Phyllite can also be found in sedimentary basins along the ocean floor.
