RYSA Switzerland Tour in Visiting Roche’s Headquarters

Three of our S.1 students won the champion of the Roche Young Scientist Award (http://www.cfss.edu.hk/event20130504.html) and were granted the chance to visit Roche’s headquarters in Switzerland. During the visit to Roche’s different departments, they understood better how the departments co-operated with each other and how the logistics work. The staffs not only introduced the history of Roche, but also explained the production procedures of drugs and diagnostic instruments in detail. CFSS Students Participated in the SSPC Japan Exchange Tour after Winning the Championship

CFSS students participated in the Hong Kong Student Science Project Competition 2013 and two teams won the championship of the junior division investigation project type and invention project type (http://www.cfss.edu.hk/event20130601.html). They were then invited to participate in exhibitions and exchange programmes. The Science Department and the Science Club, totalling 24 teachers and students, participated in the “Science and Creativity Workshop” organized by the Hong Kong New Generation Cultural Association Science Invention Centre on 14 September 2012. Our School joined the “Art and Science of Trees, Birds and Butterflies Exhibition” organized by the CUHK Tree Project and Green Education Team on 10th March 2012. Low Carbon Guru Activity Series: Green Diet

Low-Carbon Gurus launched a lunchtime Low-Carbon Herbal Tea Workshop to promote low-carbon lifestyle from 5h to 7th March 2012. The herbal yea includef Perilla Special Drink and Cymbopogon Melissa Herbal Tea. Gurus successfully advocated the concept of low-carbon diet to more than 200 teachers and students in the school, and delivered all their tailor-made special drinks within 15 minutes. Popular Science Enhancement Programme

To cultivate students’ interest in Popular Science, a series of workshops, collectively named as Popular Science Enhancement Program, were launched by our science teachers and green gurus at lunchtime so that students can take initiatives to experience the magic of Science. Our School has put forward sustainable development and environmental conservation as one of the Areas of Major Concern in the recent years. Astronomy in CFSS

The introduction of astronomy to CFSS started in 2006 when the Astronomy Club was established. Since then, apart from regular club activities, astronomy knowledge has been brought to all students and staff through a variety of astronomy events and courses. Every year, a basic astronomy course is taught to S.2 or S.3 classes in the junior science curriculum. The students will learn basic astronomy knowledge, as well as some stargazing tips.
