CFSS Honoured in Sustainable Development School Award Programme 2016-2018

CFSS was honoured again in the prize presentation ceremony of the Sustainable Development School Award Programme 2016-2018, held on 7 July 2018. The Programme was launched in Sept 2016, and themed on “sustainable consumption of biological resources”. Addressing the theme of the Programme, we engaged our neighbouring community under the theme of sustainability and hence obtained a “Sustainable Development Community Award”. The Annual Open Day 2018 was successfully held on 16 and 17 March 2018. The theme was CFSS INNOVATIONSTREAM – STREAM Programme Accomplishments. CFSS Participated in Exhibit of Citizen Science Faire x MakerBay 2017 to Promote Citizen Science

Our school collaborated with MakerBay to participate in 4-day exhibit of Citizen Science Faire x MakerBay from 17 to 20 August, 2017. Our students unveiled the underlying reasons of mosquito breeding to the public by mosquito sample observation and making DIY mosquito trap. They encouraged the visitors to download “Mosquito Alert” app to record locations of mosquitoes and the breeding sites, promoting concepts of Citizen Science and Sustainable Development to the territory.

Australia Education Tour

In late July 2017, 30 students and 4 teachers set foot on Australia for the purpose of investigating its biodiversity, culture, transportation and tertiary education. They visited Cairns, Sydney and Canberra in the tour.

Two students, Law Chung Hin Henry (S.5C) and Chan Chun Ming (S.5C), with their investigation project titled “Mind Our Birds, Save Our Earth”, obtained the Silver Award and the Kenneth E. Behring Regional Award in the Global Natural History Day 2017 – Global Finals (Chongqing) in July 2017. Our school hereby congratulates the two students for their outstanding performance.

Warmest Welcome to Three Taikonauts Visiting Our School

On 28th June 2017, three Taikonauts, Dr. Yang Liwei, Mr. Jing Haipeng and Mr. Chen Dong, visited our school and shared their experiences in aerospace to over 800 students from 27 different primary and secondary schools. They inspired the teenagers with their wonderful experience inside a spacecraft, especially the experiments in “zero gravity”. Besides, a tree-planting ceremony was also held at the Environmental Trail Garden to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the HKSAR. “Driving Innovation Achieving Dream” Technology Show was one of the highlighted events to commemorate the 20th Anniversary of the Establishment of the HKSAR. It was launched in Victoria Park from 28th June to 2nd July 2017. One of the highlights of the Show was the “New Generation Victoria Park InnoTech Expo”, with exhibits from 8 universities and 20 primary and secondary schools.
