The Paradigm Shift of Teaching There has been an overwhelming reform of teaching pedagogies over the past 20 years – from traditional ‘direct teaching’ to ‘knowledge-based teaching’ and ‘teacher-centered’ approaches’ to the current ‘inquiry-based’, ‘skill-based’ and ‘student-centered approaches’. Demonstration Lesson of the Chief Executive’s Award for Teaching Excellence

Our school collaborated with the Education Bureau to launch a demonstration lesson showcasing the Chief Executive Award for Teaching Excellence for teachers in the territory on 19 February 2019. Our Assistant Principal Mr. Ho Tik Shun demonstrated the use of mobile learning to facilitate students to explore strategies of plants on optimization of photosynthesis and reduction in water loss in our school Environmental Trail. The exploration was followed by group discussion and feedback sessions. A post-lesson session was launched to allow professional sharing amongst teachers.

Popular STREAM Workshop – Identifying Succulents and Cacti

Green Gurus of our school launched a Popular STREAM activity titled “Identifying Succulents and Cacti” Workshop after school on 13 December 2018. Students took reference from the Popular Science books stationed in Reading Paradise of our Main Roof to study plant taxonomy. Then, students identified and labelled these succulents and cacti in Environmental Trail and Main Roof. PBL Hall Presentation Day 1718

PBL Hall Presentation Day 17/18 was successfully held on 6th March. Themed “Care for the World” this year, it was a whole-day event, with all twenty-five PBL groups delivering presentations on their projects, sharing their new discoveries with parents, teachers and their S.2 schoolmates. Students demonstrated high level of confidence, collaboration and presentation skills on stage along with their thorough understanding of their research work. Our Science teachers Assistant Principal Mr. Ho Tik Shun, Ms. Leung Yue Shan Jennifer, Dr. Chan Pik Ying and Mr. Chung Cheuk Hung Vincent have received the honour of Chief Executive’s Award for Teaching Excellence (CEATE) in Science Education Key Learning Area. GAIA awards presentation ceremony was successfully held on 26th May. Our school was awarded the Gold Award and the Most Enthusiastic Sharing Award of the Year.  At the same time, Assistant Principal Ho Tik Shun was also awarded the Most Outstanding Guru Award and the Most Enthusiastic Guru Award for his active participation in the GAIA energy saving platform.

International Sustainable World (Energy, Engineering & Environment) Project Olympiad (I-SWEEEP) is a sustainable development science research project contest jointly organized by the Cosmos Foundation (CF) and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) in the United States. Targeting contestants from secondary schools, the contest, held every May in Houston, is renowned for resource technologies. HKSciFest 2017 – Unveiling the Magic Behind Chinese Herbs

Housing more than 1000 plant species, our School provides a good learning platform of the uses of medicinal plants and conservation on plant biodiversity for the public through mobile learning. In this workshop, participants can explore the details of herbs in a boundless setting in Environmental Trail and Medicinal Plant Garden on our rooftop. They can acquire basic concepts of plant properties and their uses together with simple species identification skills, to promote the use of plants for the health of the society.
